TEDxAFC Environment

As Event Director of the first TEDxAmericasFinestCity, I was also the designer — and I gave it a theme (Get Your Fix) which lended itsself nicely to this DIY environment. Using utilitarian materials and themes of tools, I created a sign made of a beat up skateboard and over 200 nails, and other environmental elements from pegboard and whatever I could afford at Home Depot. I commissioned a 5-foot “X” sculpture from Greg Brotherton, which was made out of various metal and machine parts. It served as a centerpiece for the event both onstage and as the star of a special “intro” video we shot to open the conference. I enlisted the talents of Jason St. John and Carlos Mendez Roca in creating some awesome cardboard tessellation sculptures.

This project (as a campaign) won a Bronze as well as a People’s Choice ADDY at the 2012 San Diego Ad Club ADDY’s.
